Rakuen

(Info)

Rakuen Shibuya, a shisha bar, opened in Shibuya, a district where diverse cultures constantly intersect. Designed by Mr. Okada of en one tokyo, the space brings together references from a wide range of art cultures and architectural influences from Japan and abroad.
Working in collaboration with a team of creative specialists, Equal.studio designed custom lighting fixtures that serve as symbolic elements of the interior, along with the overall lighting design to enhance the character of the space. Each floor has its own distinct concept: on the Red Floor, where the DJ booth is located, a series of suspended red bar lights creates an immersive, otherworldly atmosphere. On the VIP Floor, where laser light transforms the smoke into a jacuzzi-like visual effect, a color-changing ceiling fixture continuously alters the mood of the space. Inspired by traditional Japanese architectural lighting as well as international art and design, the custom-made fixtures were developed in close dialogue with the distinctive interior architecture. Together, they create a unique lighting experience that can only exist within Rakuen Shibuya.
